Overview

Innovative peltier cooling technology, eliminates the need for a refrigeration compressor in the peltier cooled series. These units use 78% less power than alternative models and reduce room air conditioning loads by 75%. They also include 75 pound capacity shelves, which eliminates sagging. These incubators meet APHA specifications for Biochemical Oxygen Demand (B.O.D.) and include a mechanical convection system to ensure even air distribution, digital temperature set controller, over temperature limit control, and a digital temperature display.

Do the SRI Peltier Cooled Incubators have internal lights? What kind of lighting is used?

Yes, there are internal lights which activate upon door opening. All Sheldon Manufacturing Peltier-cooled incubators use only low-heat LED lights.

 

How does the electricity usage of the SRI Peltier Cooled Incubators compare to traditional compressor-cooled incubators?

Peltier cooling is much more efficient. Peltier cooled incubators will consume significantly less electricity and produce less waste heat than traditional refrigerated incubators.

 

How reliable is a peltier-cooled incubator? What is the expected lifespan?

Peltier-cooled incubators generally have somewhat longer lives than traditional, compressor-cooled incubators. The mean time between failure for thermoelectric Peltier cooling plates have been estimated to have between 100,000 and 200,000 hours mean time between failures, which would equate to approximately 11.5 - 23 years of continuous use. Furthermore, the thermoelectric cooling and heating device is easier and less expensive to replace than a compressor, and does not require a refrigeration technician to do so.
