Microtip probes are designed to process samples contained in small diameter vessels at extremely high intensity. There are two configurations:
Tapered Microtips are recommended for processing yeast, spores, fungi, muscle, connective tissue, and similar samples. They screw into 1/2" horns with tapped ends.
| Tip Diameter: | 1/8" (3 mm) | 3/16" (5 mm) | 1/4" (6.5 mm) |
| Intensity: | 116 - 494 | 59.5 - 302 | 59.5 - 247 |
| Amplitude (µm): | Ultra High | Very High | High |
| Sample Volume: | 0.25 - 10 ml | 5 - 20 ml | 10 - 50 ml |
Double Stepped Microtips are recommended for processing cells with have a relatively low resistance to breakage, such as HeLa cells, blood cells, and cells in most tissue cultures. They consist of a coupler and a stepped tip and screw directly into the converter (they do not require a separate horn). They have a lower amplitude than the tapered tip but are capable of reaching into small diameter vessels of greater depth and can process volumes as small as 0.1 ml.
| Tip Diameter: | 1/8" (3 mm) |
| Intensity: | Very High |
| Amplitude (µm): | 64 - 247 |
| Sample Volume: | 0.1 - 10 ml |
PLEASE NOTE: Do not operate microtips at a setting higher than 7 on any Sonifier® model. Do not operate in air. Either may cause damage or breakage to an ultrasonic microtip.
